Bizsmart LLC ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Material Scanner mobile application (the "App"). This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
1. Company & Contact
The App is operated by Bizsmart LLC, a US-registered limited liability company headquartered in the United States. For any privacy questions or requests, contact us at hello@materialscanner.com.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information when you use the App:
- Account data — email address and a securely hashed password when you register.
- Scans and images — when you scan a material, the App may capture a camera image and material details to return identification results. Images are processed to generate a result and are not sold or used for advertising. We do not permanently associate scan images with your identity beyond what is needed to provide the service and your scan history.
- Location data — see Section 4 below.
- Usage analytics — anonymised crash reports and usage metrics to improve the App.
- Device data — device model, OS version, and app version for troubleshooting.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To operate and improve the App.
- To provide material identification and pricing results.
- To send transactional emails such as password reset and account notifications (see Section 5).
- To investigate and fix bugs and crashes.
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. How We Use Location Data
With your permission, the App collects your approximate device location. Location is used solely to provide localised material pricing and availability from retailers near you. Location access is optional — you can use the core identification features without granting location permission. We do not sell your location data or use it for advertising. You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings.
5. Password Reset and Transactional Emails
When you request a password reset, we send a secure reset link to your registered email address. These transactional emails are sent from hello@materialscanner.com via our email provider (Resend) solely to operate your account. We do not send marketing email without your consent.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with trusted service providers (hosting, analytics, email delivery, and payment processing) under data processing agreements, and only as necessary to operate the App.
7. Data Retention
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your associated personal data as described in Section 8.
8. Account Deletion and Data Deletion Requests
You may request deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time. To do so, email hello@materialscanner.com from your registered email address with the subject line "Account Deletion Request". We will process your request and permanently delete your account data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain certain information to comply with legal obligations.
9. Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (TLS), hashed passwords, and limited access controls to protect your data.
10. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
11. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any right, email us at hello@materialscanner.com.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes through the App or by email.
